Is writing to tell Beaton what he has done at the Vic. Discusses alterations to lighting. The Sunday Press has been bad. The performance yesterday afternoon was much better than Tuesday's performance and John Neville has improved 'out of all recognition'. Advises Beaton not to take the criticisms of the décor to heart. Discusses problems with the décor. Thinks that the green was a risk worth taking. Hopes all goes well in New York. Discusses other problems with the play. Does not know if he will be asked to do another Shakespeare, but would like to do another with Beaton.

It was kind of Beaton to trust her to return her mother's letter. Found it haunting. Is returning Beaton's letter and a photocopy. Also encloses her one and only publication. Works for the Ministry of Housing and in 1968 was asked by the Housing Management Department to write an article for their staff magazine. They are housed in Birmingham and their publication is called the Bush Telegraph. The article enclosed shows the sort of life being led by people threatened with eviction, mostly immigrants. The only help they can offer them is to try to reduce their rents. Asks Beaton about the progress of his book.

Hopes Beaton enjoyed his trip abroad and can now meet with his publishers request. Knew Beaton would be able to sort out the accuracy of her mothers relationships with regard to his family. Her mother would have been very angry if she refused Beaton permission to use some of her descriptions. Thanks Beaton for his courtesy in asking if he may use her mother's letter. Asks if she could borrow the letter to copy it. Her mother's first names were Alice Lowthian and her maiden name was Kershaw. Gives more details of her family.

Writes to Beaton with pleasure and hope. Ramon has asked her to tell Beaton about an exhibition for Balenciaga, which is being backed by the Metropolitan musem. Would like Beaton to write something for the exhibition. Asks if Beaton has any photographs of Balenciaga's models. Beaton wrote marvellous things about Cristobal in his book. Ramon will show his Chanel winter collection 24 July. They saw Bertie Abdy a little while ago. Discusses visit. Ramon would be delighted if Beaton came to see the Chanel collection.
