Biographical history

Hugh M. Stewart matriculated in 1947. He was the cox of the Lady Margaret crew at Henley Regatta when they beat the Thames Rowing Club in the Thames Club Cup and set a course record. The same year Lady Margaret broke the course record for all events at Henley during a Ladies' plate race. Races features include Fairburn Cup, Henley Royal Regatta and Marlow Regatta, as well as some mixed crew races.

Archival history

The album was compiled by Hugh M Stewart (matric 1947) and presented to the College by Sandy Black who purchased it at auction in order to donate it to the College.

A photograph album compiled by Hugh M Stewart (1947), cox of Lady Margaret Boat Club (LMBC) from the late 1940s-1950. It contains 63 pages of a scrap album completed by Stewart with original photographs and careful annotations of crew and races; also includes occasional hand drawn sketches and diagrams. Additionally there are 13 loose photos; race results for Cambridge from 1939 to 1956 and a list of past winners of CUBC events from 1920-1948 shown in the British Rowing Almanck (LMBC entries only).
