Subscribers to the College Mission (various funds), listed by name alongside amounts paid. Date ranges as follows:

Volume 1, 1885-1888;
Volume 2, 1887-1905;
Volume 3, [?]1890-1903;
Volume 4, 1905-1911;
Volume 5, 1911-1917;
Volume 6, 1917-1927.

Also includes a single file, containing miscellaneous manuscript subscribers' lists, two of which are dated 1st July 1906 - 30th June 1907 and 1st July 1907 - 30th June 1908 respectively. A third, a list of undergraduate subscribers to the College Mission at Walworth, is undated, but is likely to have been written before 1920. Also includes a collection of assorted lists for the period 1913-1914 [SJCS/49/3/1/7, located in 4/OS].

  1. Assorted account books and bank books relating to the general accounts of the College Mission [SJCS/49/4/1/1-12]. Covering dates listed below;

  2. Loose-leaf documents, which include a printed copy of the Lady Margaret Sick and Poor Accounts (July 1918 - June 1919); MS approx. annual budget (1936-1937); budget notes; income and expenditure sheets 1918-1920, 1934-1935; and correspondence [SJCS/49/4/1/14]. A collection of miscellaneous cheques and balance sheets, 1938-1940, may also be located in SJCS/49/4/1/13.

  3. An account book for the College Mission Building Fund, dated 1887-1892, with various accounts for rates etc. inserted; contains no building payments, only subscriptions promised and paid [SJCS/49/4/1/15]

Bank Correspondence: College Mission

Includes correspondence from numerous banks concerning banking orders and receipts, dated 1937-1938 and addressed to S.J. Bailey.

Also includes a collection of notices, addressed to S.J. Bailey and received from the Senior Bursar, Sir Henry Fraser Howard, concerning payments into the account of the College Mission (1929-1939). Some of the earlier notices are addressed to F.P. White.

Boys' Home Fund: College Mission

Includes documents concerning the College Mission Boys' Home Fund, namely subscription receipts, subscribers' cover letters, a small account-book (mostly blank), and a printed circular, updating members on the current state of the Boys' Home project and its delay due to the effects of the War.

The decision to establish a Boys' Home attached to the Parish of the Lady Margaret, Walworth, was taken in consequence to the legacy left by E.L. Cobb in 1913. However, additional gifts and donations were necessary and it was not until July 1915 that the House was officially opened by the Committee.

Subscribers Lists - Chapel Appeal Fund

Volume listing subscriptions to the New Chapel Building Fund paid between 1864 and 1869; lists detailing subscribers contributing to the New Chapel 1862-1866; printed list of subscribers for 1863 and 1869; draft copy of printed list of subscriptions.

Bills and Receipts

Records relating to payment for the construction work on New Court. Includes bills, statements of account and receipts, as well as certifications of works completed on the basement, foundations and above-ground construction.

Education Fund Accounts: Education Board

Includes accounts and bank pass books of SJC Education Fund, payments to lecturers for intercollegiate lectures. Also includes the report on the Education Fund for 19 Feb 1909 concerning the appointment of a committee to consider the remuneration or payment of College Lecturers. This report although printed has annotations and comments added to it.

Minutes: Entertainment

Minutes from the Entertainments Committee meetings, including dinner arrangements, invitations, table plans, schedule of guests and annual programmes of entertainment.

Reyner's Statutes

Two volumes of College statutes with note on by-foundations and benefactors. The first has a list of names in the front including: Mansfield Price, Richard Beadon, W. Pearce, Geo. Whitmore 1787 and Tho. Catton 1797. The second volume inlcudes a letter of presentation of a College senior divine to a living. Also includes correspondence related to the history of the second volume.

Scott and Mayor Statutes: copies

Three copies of 16th-17th century statutes. The first volume includes decrees of seniors 1569, 1627 and the statute regarding law fellowships 19 June 1635. This volume was submitted with a petition to the Home Office in 1848 for a grant of new statutes. It was returned to the College by the Home Office in 1907.

The second volume is the same, with the exception that it omits the decrees of seniors. This volume was purchased by R.F. Scott, when he was Master, in 1918. The volume contains his bookplate and the receipt for purchase.

The third volume contains notes of by-foundations and a copy of the University statutes.
