Note

Forming a key part of his 'Inquiry into Life and Labour in London' (1886-1903), the 'Maps Descriptive of London Poverty' were the work of the English social reformer, Charles Booth (1840-1916). The maps provide an early example of social cartography - through the use of colour coding, they present a visual documentation of the distribution of wealth and poverty across the city.
