Thomson writes as vicar not as Master of Christ's and in a subordinate tone: it suggests this was before his gaining the Mastership in 1510. He writes to Metcalfe as a doctor, which must be after Metcalfe's Doctorate of Theologay in 1506-1507 and before his election to the Mastership of SJC.
