Biographical history

Fenland archaeologist and historian. Bromwich came to St John's College in 1934 to study Archaeology and Anthropology and History. He graduated BA in 1937 and was elected to a Fellowship in 1949. He held various University posts: Assistant Lecturer in English (1949-54), Lecturer in English (1956), Supervisor (1952-78) and Director of Studies in Anglo-Saxon (1974-78). He was elected to a Fellowship of Wolfson College in 1965. Bromwich died on Christmas Day 1990.
