He has been encouraged by the results of trials of the Daring, and believes they now have a solution to the question of the propeller. He proposes to have '2 screws one abaft the other', the screws will be of Archimedean form with maximum blade area and keeping the diameter down to 28", concluding, 'if two screws are not enough we will put on more'.
Discusses the possible benefit of a two bladed screw propeller 'with great length of blade', he will try this first with the model. Mentions the ongoing problem of coal burning the bars.
