Mentions that he cannot push his wife so far in her chair as he used to be able to, but they are both well. Refers to a public information film broadcast as which Mrs Dimond charged him with keeping the children quiet. Writes that he has not heard from Tom. Passes on Mrs Hulbert's news that Tom is in Montreal with his brother, John. Details his orchestral rehersals and teaching at Dulwich College. Exclaims over 'the brilliant form' of John Crook's last two years under Cobban. Mentions a conversation with Gilkes in which he was modest about his son's achievements. Worries as he has not heard from John for a while. Refers to John's birthday. Reports that he has just received three of John Crook's letters and is glad of the news. Assures John that he will be able to remember how to play the clarinet when he gets the chance. Mentions that they listened to the final prom on the radio but did not want to go to the Albert Hall without their son. Refers to Mrs Rose, Francis and Wendy's wedding and Mrs Rose's brother Mick, who was best man.
