Benefactorum Nomina

2 volumes known as the Benefactorum Nomina or Names of Benefactors. The first volume begun in 1838 was initially compiled by William Keeling, Senior Dean, based on the list in SJGR/5/1/2 and other sources. It is marked by Keeling, "for the use of the Dean on Commemoration Days". The volume has approximately 40 pages of benefactors with a considerable amount of detail, all in Latin. Towards the end of the volume, in a later hand, there is a list which for the most part records names only, and it became customary for the Master add to the volume.

The second volume was begun in 2013 is added to every year by the current Master.

1923-1959 and 2022
Programmes for plays performed at St. John's College, including productions by the Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust, the Footlights Dramatic Club, and St. John's College School; also includes poster for 'Dante's Virgil: the Tragedy of a More-than-Father', scenes from Dante's Inferno and Purgatorio, directed by Patrick Boyde, 2022

Also includes programmes of productions staged at other locations within Cambridge, including a cycle of mystery plays, performed by the Cambridge Christian Drama Group; "The Last Chronicle of Blaydencroft, or Why go to the Zoo?" by the Young Writers' Group; and Ben Jonson's "Volpone", by the Marlowe Dramatic Society

Material kept by an individual staff member and donated to the archives in 2023. College staff social events (including weddings of staff members and photos of staff being given presents when leaving College); orders of service for services taking place at the College chapel, including memorial services; photos of College including the horse chestnut in the Master's garden being taken down. Also includes some press cuttings and a certificate for a donation to charity of money raised by staff

Foundation Dinner

Includes: menus, table plans, notices, invitations, reply cards and lists. Also includes seating plan for first Foundation Dinner in December 1934.

Octogenarian speeches (St John the Evangelist Day Dinner)

Speeches made by Fellows on reaching their 80th (and 90th) birthdays, made by invitation at the St John the Evangelist's Day Dinner. The Dinner in 2021 being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, octogenarian speeches were made at the Domus Day, January 2022. Speeches by:

Cecil [Burghley] benefactions

To augment the provision for the 24 foundation scholars and fund two further scholarships; also founding the Burghley sermons. Also recording the gift of a Bible by Lady Burghley and an agreement between Lady Burghley, St John's, the Haberdashers' Company and others concerning a charitable bequest by Lady Burghley. A gift of plate is recorded in SJAR/5/1/15/1/1 (former reference C13.1).
