Barrow exhibition [Southwell]

The Rev. James Barrow in 1880 bequeathed £1,300 in railway stock to a trust to support one exhibitioner, who is (1) a member of the Church of England; (2) by preference a native of Southwell or child of parents residing or having resided there; (3) in default a child of incumbents of the parishes of South Muskham, Bleasby, Morton (near Southwell), Halloughton, Halam, Edingley, Farnsfield, Rampton, Upton (near Southwell), Nottinghamshire, Barnoldby le Beck, Lincolnshire; (4) to be held for 3 and not more than 5 years, during satisfactory behaviour.

Baylis scholarship

Philip Baylis bequeathed in 1907, subject to other legacies and life interests, the whole of his personal and real estate upon trust to found one named mathematical scholarship, value £100, to be awarded for 3 years to the best mathematical scholar, the balance to be applied to found other named scholarships. The condition of holding the £100 scholarship was to reside in the benefactor's old rooms in Third Court.

Benians Prize: Ernest Alfred Benians (1933)

Papers related to the establishment of the Ernest Alfred Benians Prize including a letter from the College to Benians’ widow informing her of the prize, her response, the regulations of the prize and a list of subscribers to the prize fund.

A volume containing by-foundations and elections kept by James Wood and Ralph Tatham. Entries include exhibiters, dividends, names withdrawn from the boards, the Somerset Foundation, Sir Ralph Hare’s exhibition, Sedburgh School, Scholars Elections and the Platt Foundation.
