Admissions Registers

The Register includes details of all those admitted to the College, including information drawn from the Students' Registration Form completed by Freshers. The following information is included: Admissions Register Number, name in full, place and date of birth, parents' names and occupations, parents' address, schools and periods at schools, first tutor (but not subsequent changes of tutor), status at admission, date of admission (the date the entry is made in the Register).

The first Registers were created by Professor JA Crook with the help of the Tutorial Office for Junior Members, the Bursary for Fellows and the Master's Lodge for certain other members. The Register of Admission is the official College record of membership. This was sanctioned by Council Minute 3107/9(a)I, 15 May 1997. This provision was carried into a new Standing Order, A37(a) by CM3115/8(a)iii, 13 Nov 1997.

Agreements: Nicholas Metcalfe

Includes: a contract for the College clock, an indenture for Robert Shorton's obit and an indenture for arbitration between Nicholas Metcalfe and Margaret Myddelton .

Annual Reports: Audit Committee

Architectural Designs for New Court

Architectural designs for New Court, the Bridge of Sighs and the surrounding grounds. Includes drawings and plans by the architects John Clement Mead, Arthur Browne, and Rickman and Hutchinson, along with explanations of the designs and cost estimates. The series also includes recommendations for the landscaping of the grounds by Edward Lapidge.

Atwick village

Includes: deeds, correspondence, receipts for a messauge and land at Atwick village conveyed to the College by Edith Barnfather in 1927.

Baker exhibitions

George Baker bequeathed £1,300 for charitable purposes. With the agreement of the executors, through the influence of Thomas Baker, agreement was drawn up for two exhibitions for St John's in 1701 (SJGR/5/2/6/1-2), amended to six in 1710, preference to 1) founder's kin 2) pupil of Durham School (SJGR/5/2/6/3). With the money, farms at Thorley and Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, were bought, and sold for £1,900 in 1899. In 1861 the preference for kindred was removed, and the 6 exhibitions were replaced with an unspecified number worth £30 each (Statutes, 1860, 59).

Ball Accounts: Racquet Court Co.

Includes: 3 volumes of ball accounts listing the number of balls used. The volumes also list accounts for racquets and 'fives'. Additionally Volume 1 lists subscribers from 1 Jan 1859 - 31 Dec 1860.

Bank Pass books: Junior Bursar

Includes six bank pass books, belonging to the Junior Bursar.
