Accounts: Gabriel Metcalfe

Two volumes of accounts of receipts & payments by Gabriel Metcalfe on behalf of his brother, Nicholas Metcalfe. Also includes the building of Thomson's chantry (fol 291 ff). The second volume contains a later sermon by John Cheke (pp 235-256) and a conclusion by John Taylor.

John Baker's fee: Nicholas Metcalfe

Includes: receipts by John Baker of London, gent. from Nicholas Metcalfe, for 16s 8d, half year's fee due at Michaelmas and Easter. Also includes a receipt on behalf of Sir Edward Neville for 16s. 8d. from Nicholas Metcafle for a parcel of Sir Edward's fee at Ospringe, Kent.

C Stanke (fishmonger) : Barway

Comprising:
1) Indenture of bargain and sale, Christopher Stanke[s], to Nicholas Metcalfe and Ralph Baynes, land at Barway with water and fishing rights at Barway, Soham and Stretham, known as 'Beche', from bushoploode to Bradforth Were (sic) which Stanke[s] purchased from Thomas Barton, dated 4 Feb. 1525.
2) Notes of the boundaries of the land and fishing rights at Barway bought by the College from Christopher Stanke[s]

Hugh Hare's Farm Terrier: John Taylor

Terrier of St John's College farm, called Hugh Hare's, in St Peter's parish near the castle in Cambridge, made by John Taylor, Dean of Lincoln and Master of St John's, John Perry, President of Bene't College, Osward Archer, servant to the Master of Clare Hall, John Barnes, John Munsey, John Woolward and Hugh Hare, all of Cambridge, John Cole, John Stephens, William Stephens and Nicholas Anger, all of Coton.

Also includes a letter from the Registry dated 2 March 1886: Dear Sir, I send you the terrar [sic] in question for your Muniment Room. I shall be glad to have a receipt for it.
It has been here certainly since 1758, as it is in Caryl's index. It may possibly have been brought to the Registry by John Taylor, the Editor of Demosthenes and Lycias his precedecessor, as I rather think he was one time Bursar of St John's College.
Be good enough to send me Mr. R.M. Parke's direction, as I cannot place him on my list without that.

Accounts: Fisher's chantry and register of treasury

Various accounts of Nicholas Metcalfe largely in connection with the building of Bishop Fisher's chantry [circa 1525]; additionally a register of the treasury (1541-1547) [fols. 71-11]; also mentioned are payments to Fellows and scholars and John Cheke is mentioned.

Henry VIII's statutes

Two volumes of statutes dating from 1530-1549. The first volume contains statutes signed by John Fisher and attested by John Bere (folios 1-48) and statutes given by King Henry VIII, with corrections made in 1549 (folios 43-93). The second volume is a fair copy of Henry VIII's statutes.
