William Smyth et al (letter): John Taylor

Letter, no year, William Smyth, Ralph Baxter & Robert Doneham (or Domnam), priests to John Taylor, Dean of Lincoln, concerning their excommunication in a judicial dispute with the Bishop of Peterborough and his power over the dean's [Taylor] peculiar of Nassington. The diocese of Peterborough was created in 1541, with John Chambers (also known as John Borowe or Burgh), abbot of Peterborough, as its first bishop.

Williams fellowships and scholarships

The scholars were to be chosen from the four Williams foundation scholars at Westminster School, London, two of these being from of Wales and two from Lincolnshire; in default, from the Liberties of Westminster. The fellows were to be chosen from the Williams' St John's College scholars, one being from Wales or in default from Lincolnshire or the Liberties of Westminster, or in default from any in St John's formerly of the foundation of Williams scholars.
The two fellowships were vacated in 1644 and 1645, and no successors were elected.

Williams Statutes: copy

Junior bursar's copy SJC statutes found in the Junior Bursar's office in 1942 and transferred to the Archive. The volume contains: notes of benefactions and by-foundations and expenses on taking degrees.

Containing: 1) copy of the will of Sir Richard Raynes (c.1636-1710), from the Register of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, dated 21 January 1709; 2) extract (undated) from the will of Henry Raines (c.1677-1734) the son of Richard Raines, from the Register of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury; signed "William Brocket of Christ's Hospital" on the reverse

Wine and Tobacco Accounts: Steward

Includes the Steward's accounts of wine, cigars and cigarettes consumed by Fellows. Also included is a notebook containing a printed list of charges for tobacco provided in the combination room accounts for cigar/cigarette sales. This notebook also contains loose sheets pertaining to reciepts of tobacco sales; a list of the Master & Fellows for 1974; a stock list of wine and tobacco (1974-1975); a Fellows' dinner menu for 1972 and a few handwritten notes.
