Barrow exhibition [Southwell]

The Rev. James Barrow in 1880 bequeathed £1,300 in railway stock to a trust to support one exhibitioner, who is (1) a member of the Church of England; (2) by preference a native of Southwell or child of parents residing or having resided there; (3) in default a child of incumbents of the parishes of South Muskham, Bleasby, Morton (near Southwell), Halloughton, Halam, Edingley, Farnsfield, Rampton, Upton (near Southwell), Nottinghamshire, Barnoldby le Beck, Lincolnshire; (4) to be held for 3 and not more than 5 years, during satisfactory behaviour.

College staff social events (including weddings of staff members and photos of staff being given presents when leaving College); orders of service for services taking place at the College chapel, including memorial services; photos of College including the horse chestnut in the Master's garden being taken down. Also includes some press cuttings and a certificate for a donation to charity of money raised by staff

Material kept by an individual staff member and donated to the archives in 2021. 2 small photo albums and an A4 ring binder with plastic pockets. The photo albums have stickers giving content information on most photo sleeves.
Album 1: sticker 'April 2016', photos of College buildings (Chapel with scaffolding) and grounds, including May Ball decorations plus Star Wars stormtrooper; procession headed by Head Porter and Praelector; photographs of individual staff members and small groups at social events, labelled; photographs of College grounds. Also includes photos loose at back of album, with dates written on the back but no names.
Album 2: May Ball programmes 2017 and 2018; photos of grounds set up for both balls; staff members who attended and / or were working, with names on stickers on album sleeves; other occasions including tour of gardens; some loose photos of grounds.
Ring binder: includes press cutting about appointment of Heather Hancock as Master, 2019; orders of service for Services for Graduation Day at St John's College Chapel, 2018 and 2021; orders of service for funeral and service of thanksgiving for Sir Christopher Dobson; filming plan, 2017; College staff 5-a-side football tournament 2017; material relating to the quincentenary; thank you card from children of St John's College School, 2016

Book of May Concert programmes, 1884-1924: scrapbook of May Concert programmes, 1884 - 1924. Contains pastedown programmes, tickets, St. John's Musical Society stamps, and a manuscript note written by M. Hornibrook, Hon. Secretary of the Musical Society, stating that the book is intended for programmes of the May Concert only [dated June 1897].

Crockery of James Prior

Modern photos of crockery once owned by James Prior, Fellows' Cook from 1825-1845. Also includes a letter to the College Archivist from Dr Jim Charles outlining the history of the crockery.

Includes a letter from the Domestic Bursar about the possibility of putting two copies of Times Literary Supplement in the Green Room, a letter from Dr Simon Coleman welcoming the new Secretary of the Committee and the minutes from the 1993 and 1994 Committee meeting.
