Four cartoons (drawings), undated, by office of Clayton and Bell for figures of the 'illustriores' painted on the chapel ceiling, but only one, that of St Edmund king and martyr (d. 869), was executed. The others are St. Peter, St. Stephen and St. Oswald king and martyr (d. 642).
