Biographical history

After schooling at Monmouth Grammar, Webb came to St John's College in 1868, graduating BA as Senior Wrangler in 1872 and winning the first Smith's prize. In the same year he was elected to a Fellowship, and he subsequently served his College as Junior Bursar (1876-77) and mathematical lecturer (1877-1911). Webb was well known as a coach for the mathematical tripos, at one time teaching 60 hours a week. He died in 1936.
