Student at the Royal College on the island of Mauritius, where he was born. Admitted to St John's College in 1925 to study Law. Graduated B.A. 1928, M.A. 1951. Subsequently admitted to the Middle Temple; later Professional Assistant to the Attorney-General of Mauritius.
