Thanks Glover for a copy of leaves of a manuscript in Berlin. Autograph note on reverse explains that Glover went to Berlin in 1896 ostensibly to consult a manuscript but also intending to propose.

Gives Glover permission to continue to use his testimonial. Writes that he is literally translating from Syriac the parts of the 'Curetonian' manuscript that Glover copied for him in Berlin. Recommends Bevan's edition of the 'Hymn of the Soul' , Bardesane's Gnostic hymn out of Wright's apocryphal Acts. Refers to a paper read by R. S. Conway in front of the Cambridge Philological Society on Cicero's letters. Sends the good wishes of his wife and Bubbles.

Encloses a letter from a former Master at Eton who praises Glover's book and complains of the status of Classics in contemporary education. Burkitt explains that he lent the book to an 'elderly parson' called Bartholomew, who lent it to the author of the letter.
