Receipt for deposit made for coach travel from Calais, signed.

Departure on 4 Sep. 1819 at 6 am. Mr. Whoetaker [sic] paid a deposit of 20 francs for seat no 1 booked in the cabriolet. Travellers must arrive half an hour before departure to complete the payment. Clothes and luggage must be brought in before 7 p.m. Travellers are required by law to show their passports before getting on the coach, or they will lose their deposits and be unable to leave. "The company cannot be held responsible for accidents, acts of God and armed robberies."
