Believes that as he has received no proofs of his first chapter there is no urgency on sending his second. Is planning to take a vacation in Italy for six months and would like to defer sending the second chapter until after that. Includes note from JRT confirming that more time would be allowed.

As has now become a diplomat will now find it difficult to contribute chapter on Bohemia as agreed before the War. Has colleagues who could complete it and would guarantee the work if this is acceptable. Would like to know if the piece sent in 1914 was ever published.

In reply to letters would like to confirm his contribution of the work on the history of Bohemia. Will definitely complete work on Hus and Bohemia under the Luxembourg dynasty and hopes third section also. Will inform JRT if cannot complete the work due to pressure through work.

Informs of his imminent posting to Berlin and the difficulties he has with completing the work as promised. Believes that the delay will not cause a problem due to the late publication of the CMH. Hopes to deliver MS at end of September.

Is honoured to be asked to contribute a chapter to CMH. Is slightly apprehensive because, though he feels his knowledge of Western Europe is adequate, his knows little of Eastern Europe and feels that this is important to the history. Would like a frank statement.
