Thanks Gough for his good words regarding GA's article on a Roman Milliary. Declares that he has abandoned the project due to the inability to have simple questions answered concerning the locale. Thinks that a piece contending that Falconier's medal is a fake is too long for Archaeologia. Discusses the work of Mr Bryant with regard to the medal and how he has used this information in his piece. Would have liked to finish his article on the Foss as it would clear up mistakes made by other authors as to the siting of ancient sites. Gives news of Sir John Cullum and asks for news of Mr Lort. Discusses an article in England's Gazetteor, 1775, regarding Roman roads and hopes he could get the route of the Foss Way surveyed to ascertain distances between milestones. Is looking forward to the President's speech, which are always good, though GA suggests that a few improvements could be made.

Has plenty of books, papers, medals and fossils at Bury. WIll give Stevenson a hearty welcome if he visits. Gives thanks for a book on Elizabeth Bentley and informs Stevenson that he knows little of Norfolk, though he has a copy of Honest Tom Martin's Suffolk Notes which is an important collection. Discusses recent copies of the Gentleman's Magazine which include a representation of GA's Queen Elizabeth Prayer Book, and suggests that Nicholls the printer is in an advantageous position when it comes to old manuscripts.
