A. L. s.

Discusses what G.A. believes to be a mistake in the preface of 'Archaeologia'. Believes that there has been confusion due to the existence of two villages called Goadby in Leicestershire. Describes each village. Also acknowledges a mistake he has made concerning an inscription and passes comment on Gough's description of a house in Shepreth.

A. L. s.

Discusses the find of a coin from Apamea and suggests that it is a fake. Gives his reasons behind the accusation, and who could be involved in the falsification. Also describes other similar faked coins and the difficulties in having them accepted as such. Discusses coin collections of Mr Hunter and Mr Duane. Talks of the hope of new publications regarding coin collections which would be better than those presently available and the hope that access to coin collections could be improved. Discusses an abusive anecdote, the work he has carried out on a biography and a book he should have bought at a sale.

A. L. s.

Has arrived in Cambridge and produced the manuscript for Mr Gough. Has seen Mr Tyson. Is suspected of attacking Mr Bryant but denies the charge. Discusses the falsification of a coin collection and asks Gough to verify information about Dr Hunter regarding his coin collection. Discusses the use of Somerset House by two societies. Also, 'Historical memoir on the Roy Library, Paris 1739', in French. Gives a brief history of a two-volume map of Ireland given to the library in 1709.

A. L. s.

Encloses a draught of a paper concerning coins described by Mr Bryant and Mr Falconer which GA contends are forgeries. Describes his reasons for writing the paper and the evidence he used in making his case. Asks for the paper be returned, as it is only a draft.

A. L. s.

Sends an account of the milliary. Discusses the problems with obtaining information regarding Leicester, published histories and illustrations of East Anglia and Leicester. Relates his ideas concerning the course of the Foss Way in Leicestershire. Talks of a further dissertation he will write on an inscription. Also Included is a note in another, later, hand giving details of a 'History of Leicestershire' printed in 1793.

A. L. s.

Discusses an account of a Leicester Milliary sent to Gough. Mentions the debate over an Apamean coin involving the President and Mr Tyson. Talks of published histories of Suffolk by Sir J. Cullum and Sir Richard Gippes.

A. L. s.

Thanks Gough for his good words regarding GA's article on a Roman Milliary. Declares that he has abandoned the project due to the inability to have simple questions answered concerning the locale. Thinks that a piece contending that Falconier's medal is a fake is too long for Archaeologia. Discusses the work of Mr Bryant with regard to the medal and how he has used this information in his piece. Would have liked to finish his article on the Foss as it would clear up mistakes made by other authors as to the siting of ancient sites. Gives news of Sir John Cullum and asks for news of Mr Lort. Discusses an article in England's Gazetteor, 1775, regarding Roman roads and hopes he could get the route of the Foss Way surveyed to ascertain distances between milestones. Is looking forward to the President's speech, which are always good, though GA suggests that a few improvements could be made.
