The collection came to the Library in two phases. Boxes 1-4 contain notebooks, typescripts, printed items and a few photographs, mostly relating to Engledow's travels in Africa and Asia and to his agricultural research. Boxes 5-11 contain a broader assortment of notes, correspondence, reminiscences, memorabilia, photographs and artefacts, relating mainly to Engledow's personal (non-academic) life and activities, as well as copies of printed publications by or collected by Engledow. The grouping of material in boxes 5-11 largely preserves the arrangement assigned by Engledow's daughter Ruth Steketee, who presented this part of the collection to the Library in 2014. [N.B. The collection includes photographs, audio-visual media, memorabilia, certificates, press-cuttings, correspondence and reviews relating to Cradock's books, a small quantity of papers relating to Cradock's professional activities, and some personal correspondence.

Catalogue of Taylor's books, lecture notebooks, passports,some invitation cards and menus, a notebook recording invitations given and received throughout Taylor's time as Master, letters, annotated copies of his works, College bills. Appointment diaries from the Master's Lodge 1887-1908, plus Mrs Taylor's diaries for 1907-08.

The papers in this collection were removed after Richard's death from drawers and filing cabinets in his College rooms, and presented to the College by his widow. The arrangement here preserves in broad outline the system adopted in the cabinets, though there has been some tidying in the interests of clarity and to correct obvious misfiling. The wider collection also includes a copy of the dissertation submitted in successful pursuit of a Fellowship at St John's College, 1964, a bound copy of Richard's PhD dissertation, 1965, and a complete paper set of his published papers, all of which are held in the College Library.

Memorabilia from THF's time at St John's: a framed matriculation photograph for 1920, two sets of mathematical instruments, a slide rule, a wooden ruler with initials C.F.H., a printed booklet of logarithms, a silver cigarette case embossed with the College crest, a small wooden box with the College crest on the top.

Typescript and manuscript notes, correspondence, reprints, and annotated books, mostly relating to Aeschylus. Also a manuscript play 'The Fall of Troy'.

The collection includes Butler's books, manuscripts, music, photographs, pictures and drawings, and personal effects.

Notes on Pindar. Four large hardback notebooks, with lined paper written in manuscript on the rectos only, containing some loose sheets. Volume I is labelled 'Introduction O.1 - O.7'; Volume II 'O.7 contd - P.2'; Volume III 'P.3 - P.10' and Volume IV 'P.10 contd - P.12'. There is also a heavily annotated copy of a Loeb Classical Library edition of the Odes of Pindar, published in 1924. (Dates approximate. The bibliography in volume 1 of the notebooks contains references up to 1933.)

Drafts of and notes taken for 'Churchill's peacetime ministry, 1951-55', research material on the history of the British Labour movement and the Communist Party of Great Britain, other notes, some diaries, cuttings, typescripts, letters, slides and ephemera.
