A.L.s. from Charles Henry Hartshorne to John Roberts

Gives a description of a vist to Oxford which he has just undertaken. Gives a list of the books he has sent, and praises 'the excellent Dr Bliss, an antiquary before his time.' The lack of decoration makes him 'with difficulty believe that Christmas has reached Cambridge' and is missing the old Shropshire custom 'under the boughs of the sacred mistletoe'. Is due to leave Cambridge for Stourbridge soon.
