Writes that he is reading Parkman's 'Histories of Canada' and Goldwin Smith's 'Canada and the Canadian Question', and 'Child's garden of verse', which Macnaughton likes but Cappon, the Professor of English, does not. Mentions Hiram Calvin and Geo Macdonnell. Observes that his hair has grown long and will not be cut until he sees Stanley or Knaster. Refers to his edition of Demothenes. Complains of a mistake in the Junior Latin in the 1897-8 calendar, in connection with his assistant, Professor Nicholson and William Bailey. Refers to Robert Ingersoll.
