Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from Aylesbury

Beaton's impeccable manners don't diminish. Was happy to see Beaton again and delighted that he enjoyed the play. The notices for Beaton's book can hardly have been better and he enjoyed reading it. Beaton has triumphed remarkably after his miseries. Larry and Michael Redgrave are to be admired for their courage and determination. There must be something about the theatre and social life which manages to drive one to continue to be lively and interested.

Postcard to Beaton.

Mum and Ben are "touchingly happy". Was unwise enough to go for a walk into the desert and "have been picking cactus prickles out of my legs ever since".

Fredric Russell Harty. Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from London.

Has just finished reading the latest Beaton diary and found it enchanting. It is beautifully composed, delicately observed and funny. They met five years ago when Beaton was interviewed on his programme by Hamet Crawley. Had lunch with the vicar of Broadchalke who was his headmaster at Blackburn Grammar School and his boss when he was a housemaster.
