Just back from six months in Ghana; time in England spent preparing his part of Amara West volume in EES office; Patricia Spenser dealing with Fairman's portion. Returns to Ghana in the autumn; failed to get funds for final season on Asante project; has money from Haycock fund to help finish the Meroe report. Publication becoming a problem; University has cut off entire subsidy to University Press; one of his Occasional Paper series (A Gonja Miscellany) caught halfway through; asks if the Africa series with BAR might take his Asante project report. Asks for more information on excavations at Gao by someone from Cambridge he's not heard of.

Warsaw, Poland. Discusses photodocumentation; sending of complete set of photographs he made at Qasr Ibrim in 1976 and 1978 season; Polish and English captions; two negative films by J.M. Plumley, partly concerning stone pavement of the Temple Church (1972); Letraset pattern. Asks Alexander to send typewriting and matching carbon paper, as supplies are very difficult to obtain.
