The collection contains files, correspondence, documents, notebooks, drawings, watercolours, photographs and artefacts relevant to Cedric Price's architectural works and ideas. Particular strengths of the collection are material from his childhood and years at university, and bundles of family correspondence, chiefly from his mother.

The collection primarily consists of correspondence, arranged into various series: the 'ex libris' correspondence is that which was interleaved in George Watson's personal library and has since been reordered, and other preexisting groups of correspondence – including that with 'prominent persons', or pertaining to 'The New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature' or to books authored by Watson – have been ordered within separate series. Typescripts and offprints of Watson's writing, and that of others, also feature, as do newspaper cuttings, photocopies of research material, and a small number of photographs. Additionally, some documentation and ephemera relating to Watson's career at the University of Cambridge and St John's College are included.

Material relating to Benjamin Hall Kennedy's Latin primer gathered from various sources.

The papers cover PFC's childhood and schooling, his time at University, his career, teaching and publications.

The material primarily relates to Peter Linehan's academic career: his historical research, and his various roles within St John's College, including his time as Dean and his editorship of St John's College, Cambridge: A History (2011). 'Extracurricular activities', including personal correspondence and non-academic writing, are also represented.

Notes relating to Colenso compiled by Paul Murray, Visiting Colenso Fellow at SJC Michaelmas 2022-Lent 2023 are appended.

In addition there is a quantity of press cuttings postdating his death. Media other than paper include sound recordings (chiefly reel-to-reel studio tapes; some cassettes); photographs, 35 mm transparencies and plastic negatives (a large quantity of photographic material is from 'Last Chance to See'); and digital backup tapes.
