Clears up a misuderstanding about a comment of Max's that appears in the book. Gives background information about how she developed the structure and content of 'Alison Cairns'. Explains that she omitted items at David Cairn's request, apart from Alison's break with Robert Hurd. Mentions the review's reference to Cranford.
