Newall telescope. Has been out with other members of committee to select site for the telescope, if St. John's will sell the land. The Syndicate not enthusiastic about committing themselves to this. JCA not keen to be Director of work to be undertaken with the instrument, neither is GH Darwin.

Newall telescope. WHMC and Common have written their recommendations for the use of telescope, suggesting Darwin have charge of it. Pleased that JCA is prepared to house it at the Observatory after all.
