ALS from George Gawler to the Reverend Dr Louis Loewe, send from Friar Gate, Derby.

Thanks him for writing and sending such a full and beautiful explanation of the amulet. Thanks him for his interest in his son, whom he hopes may be able to take advantage of Loewe's introduction to Mr Elias Sassoon. At the moment his movements are regulated by his service in the 73rd regiment, and it would not be to his advantage to change regiments.Gives news of his eldest daughter Mrs Hall and her family, and responds to Loewe's enquiry about his health. Is about to buy a watch in memory of Lady Montefiore, expressing sympathy at her long suffering and concern at the news that Sir Moses Montefiore is unwell.
