Letter to Beaton

Typescript letter, concerning the unsuitability of the photographs taken by Beaton for the 'What to Wear With What' feature to be included in the April issue. Withers writes that she believes that Beaton did not spend enough time and care in taking the photographs, and if he is no longer interested in their fashion features, then the magazine will cease to offer the work to him. She suggests meeting to discuss the issue over a drink before she leaves for New York at the end of the month. Contains heavy pencil annotations on reverse page, difficult to read.

Letter to Beaton

Typescript letter in which Withers thanks Beaton for the drawings, photographs and article he has produced for the Coronation issue of 'Vogue' magazine. She writes that she has received many compliments with respect to Beaton's photographs, while also discussing the complimentary copies and prints given to everyone involved. Withers concludes by asking whether it would be possible to use a photograph of Princess Marie Louise for the Autumn issue.

Letter to Beaton

Typescript letter, in which Withers invites Beaton to take part in a new project to celebrate the opening of their new office, Vogue House, in Hanover Square. She writes that they are planning a feature and would like Beaton to contribute a short piece on the subject of 'Vogue' and its place in the world, which, together with other similar contributions, will offer a sense of how the magazine has developed ove rthe years. Instead of a fee, Withers hopes that Beaton will accept a case of champagne. They would require a copy of the piece by 21st May.

Letter to Eileen Hose

A letter from Withers, in which she thanks Beaton for his photographs and writes that she would like to purchase the photograph of Angus Wilson. Though she is pleased by the remaining pictures, she cannot presently use them and therefore is returning the photographs of Princesses Alexandra and Margaret, and the Duchess of Kent, with the letter.
