Manuscript notes headed 'Johnian authors to 1900. Trial list. August 1942'. The notes are arranged aphabetically by author. White gives titles and imprints for each author's works, and notes where copies are to be found in the British Museum and St John's College Library.

Documents White's training as a member of the Friends' Ambulance Unit and his posting to France. Also includes various correspondence concerning the FAU.

Diary 1916

Describes College life. Also documents White's experiences as a conscientious objector, his attempt to gain exemption from military service, the actions and advice of various bodies, including the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Union of Democratic Control, and his tribunal hearing in Cambridge. Includes newspaper cuttings of conscientious objectors' cases held before the tribunal and various correspondence concerning the same.

Mentions various members of St John's College, including E. Cunningham, J. Larmor and N.B. Jopson, as well as Bertrand Russell.
