Discusses the making of 'J. T. M.' an Honorary Fellow. Is not happy with the appointment due to the less than honorable actions of the person concerned, even though he has been made a judge by the government.

Gives the height of Leh in Kashmir which he had measured using barometric observations. Had arranged with the Government of India to spend ten weeks in America working on solar radiation but this has been vetoed by the Secretary of State. Has not been informed why. Is not sure of the Government of India's reaction to JL's suggestion of spending a year at altitude taking solar measurements.
