[Four illustrations], by C. Harrison and S. Harrison

Four comic illustrations extracted from a book or magazine. An accompanying note by Henry Festing Jones reads: 'I do not remember who gave these to Butler, nor from what book or magazine they were taken. He kept them because they amused him. They were to be used as showing the effect of academicism, or how much better an artist gets on without it, or in some way to illustrate the line taken in 'Considerations on the Decline of Italian Art' in 'Alps & Sanctuaries'.'

Sketches by G.W. Sharp

Watercolour and pencil on paper (25.5 x 18 cm), of a copy-sketch of a religious painting and three sketches of heads.
