Part of Papers of Lyn Newman
Discusses Miss Armstrong's 'Fanny Kemble' with reference to the Misses Dents' criticism that it was too hard on Pierce Butler. Gives evidence that the ex-slave named Liverpool was about 100 years old on his recent death. Refers to the Butler Plantation record book, and the testimonies of Wallace Quarterman, an ex-slave from the Roswell King Plantation, and Mrs Henry Gignilliat nee Jane Forrester. Sends an excerpt from Major Higginson's Journal [attached] about slave women's recollections of Fanny Kemble.
