Autograph letter signed to J.C. Adams

Herschel too busy to write account of Neptune controversy. An account from JCA published by the Society would carry weight, but if he cannot or will not write it he should not worry. Still waiting for abstract of Breen's paper. Has some good observations from [Hartnup] Liverpool [of Satellites of Neptune and/or Uranus?]

Request to return paper for publication by RAS promptly. Comments on Markree Metis Observations in current Monthly Notices. Keeping observations [CO?] for publication as a supplement to the Monthly Notices. Had sent best regards to JC via JCA.

Autograph letter signed to J. Challis

English Observations to be omitted from next Monthly Notices of RAS on account of space. Report of [CO] Syndicate would benefit from additions. Encouraging Hartnup in meridian observations, especially planets and comets. Would like to see JCA in a University post; suggests Lowndean Professorship. Will be ready to print [on Neptune] in mid September: requires JC to provide observations.
