ALS from Andrew Linnett, Worcester College, Oxford.

Thanks Crook for his kind letter and for the hard work that he put in reading the manuscript. He will pay great attention to what Crook has to say, although there are some areas where they disagree. He thanks Crook for making his visit to Cambridge so pleasant and mentions that he is just back from visiting his son in North Carolina.

ALS from Alistair and Catriona Renwick, Auckland, New Zealand.

Notes his pleasure at Crook's appraisal of Goodman. Refers to a new Principal appointed to Catriona's school, reorganised to detrimental effect, demoting and docking salaries en route. This breached New Zealand labour law. Catriona (his wife) has been involved in the legal backlash that has resulted and is now exhausted as a consequence. They send good wishes for Crook's forthcoming birthday.

ALS from Alex Fedorchenko

Tells Crook of his visit to Australia for a conference. Looks forward to another visit to Cambridge, but is uncertain when it will take place. Looks forward to seeing the new portrait of the Master of St John's.

ALS from Alex Fedorchenko

Gives an account of conferences he attended in France where he encountered an interest in his original approach to fluid mechanics and accoustics. States that he cherishes a desire to establish a true scientific collaboration with foreign scientists. (Three photographs are attached)

ALS from Alex Fedorchenko.

Informs Crook that the funding situation for scientific research in Russia is difficult, but that his last paper has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. He attaches a photo of his recent visit to Kyoto. He expresses disappointment at not receiving replies to his proposals for research in England.
