Gives an account of his first few days in College, describing his room in third court, his first meal in Hall and a visit to Dr Sandys, his tutor, who, he says, 'is exceedingly stiff, and seemed hardly less nervous, or awkward . . . than myself.' Notes that he had his first examination in the Senate House. Describes making acquaintance with a number of fellow students and attending church services.
