Thanks Glover for his letter. Complains that only Glover, the Morgan family, and Dean Gardner Smith keep him up-to-date with Cambridge news. Reports that he is on sabbatical, and intends to break-up his theological library in order to read what pleases him. Sends four chapters of his 'Reminiscences'. Looks back at his time in Cambridge. Sends a photograph of his wife, himself, and their dogs, with the caption, 'We'll get some more dogs to greet you if only you'll come here'.

Congratulates Glover on his election to the office of Public Orator. Complains of the manoveuring taking place over appointing a Professor in Anatomy at Cambridge University. Indicates that Duckworth is available and has worked in the Anatomy School for years but those involved wish to appoint Elliott Smith and try to head hunt him from London. Deplores that Pigou, who he describes as a 'long haired little draft shirker', was appointed over Foxwell, and 'that ass Stanley Gardener' before Shipley. Mentions Ross, and Kelman.
